Our story

The wrap that replaces cling film

A beeswax food wrap is a square of cotton coated in a blend of beeswax, tree resin and a little oil. The warmth of your hands softens the wax just enough, and it moulds to whatever you wrap — a bowl, half an avocado, the cut end of a cucumber. Let it cool and it holds its shape. Rinse it, reuse it, and when it is finally worn out, it can go to the compost. Hive makes these wraps in the UK, one coating at a time, so the cling film drawer slowly becomes a thing of the past.

How it's made

Organic cotton is coated by hand with a blend of beeswax, tree resin and jojoba oil, in even, careful layers. The result is a flexible wrap that softens with warmth, seals as it cools, and is ready to reuse again and again.

How to use it

Press the wrap over a bowl or around food with your hands — the warmth moulds it. Rinse in cool water between uses and lay it flat to dry. Avoid heat and raw meat, and it will last for months.

Good to know

What can I wrap with it?

Half fruit and vegetables, cut onions, cheeses, bowls, loaves and sandwiches. It works for most fresh produce — just avoid raw meat and very hot food.

Can it be re-waxed?

Yes — when the wax thins, you can add a fresh coat of beeswax, which is the sustainable way to keep your wraps going for years.

How do I use it?

Press it over a bowl or around food with your hands; the warmth seals it. Rinse in cool water between uses and lay it flat to dry. Avoid heat and raw meat.

How long does one last?

With care — rinsing in cool water and keeping it away from heat — a wrap lasts for months of daily use, and can be refreshed with a new wax coat when it starts to dull.

Is it plastic-free?

Yes — it is cotton, beeswax and resin, with no plastic at all. When a wrap is finally worn out, it can go to the compost rather than the bin.
